Projekt 1065 by Alan Gratz

Hitler Youth. The source of Hitler’s power and also Hitler’s greatest mistake. In Projekt 1065 by Alan Gratz, A boy named Micheal is a part of Hitler Youth, but something is different between him and the other kids. His entire family are Allied Forces spies. One day, a British Pilot named Simon crash landed near a barn and his family must figure out a way to protect him and bring him back to Allied Forces. He may hate everything related to Hitler ,but he needs information. One day, he meets a kid named Fritz and they become friends. Fritz becomes a very close friend of his and even helps him join Hitler Youth. Turns out, his father has blueprints to a secret projekt that would destroy all of the allied forces with no issue. Micheal has to seize all twelve blueprints before it’s too late and relay them to allied forces. The only way to relay information to the Allied Forces would be in Switzerland in a meeting. However, there is a problem. The meeting is going to get blown up by a secret German task force. In Projekt 1065, it’s a race against time. If the plan failed, everyone and everything he knew would be taken away from him. Will he be able to gather all the information he needs? Will he be able to relay the information to the Allied Forces? Will Hitler be stopped once and for all? To find out, read Projekt 1065 by Alan Gratz.

One scene that was incredibly impactful in Projekt 1065 is when Fritz and Micheal are forced to fight to prove that they are strong enough to serve Hitler. During this scene, Micheal beats Fritz, but they both prove they are worthy. However, Micheal doesn’t feel proud, he feels ashamed when he states “I had managed to scare even the monsters, and when you can scare monsters, you can be sure you’ve become one yourself” . (pg.128). I can connect to this quote because it shows that when you are so focused on something and you don’t realize what you have done in order to accomplish this. Even sacrificing things you worked hard for just to sacrifice it in order to finish a goal. Like an example, in order to win you have to sacrifice your glory for the team. Micheal risked his friendship with Fritz and his life for the bigger cause of joining Hitler Youth and gaining more information so that the Allied Forces can win.
