Two Degrees by Alan Gratz

 

       Climate change is an enormous issue. In Two Degrees by Alan Gratz, the main characters Akira, Owen, George, and Natalie are troubled by climate change all over the world and they realize that the only way to overcome this enormous issue is to work together. Climate change has played a huge danger to all of them, from polar bears to hurricanes and even wildfires, the characters in Two Degrees must find a way to survive Earth’s undoing that is climate change caused disasters. Akira is facing a huge wildfire in the wilderness of California, the fire is hot enough to burn metal and an entire house. Owen and George are in a small town in Canada, which is facing intense problems with polar bears due to the ice melting from the earth’s core due to pollution. Finally, Natalie is facing a category 5 hurricane that hits Miami and is united with a dog named Churro and has to survive intense flooding and food shortages. All of them have something in common, they were all affected by the rising temperatures of climate change. Owen, George, Akira, and Natalie must unite and understand that climate change won’t solve itself and everyone should play their part in helping the world become a better place. Will they be able to unite and help each other solve the everlasting problem of climate change or will they die trying? To find out, read Two Degrees by Alan Gratz.
